Samsung’s Series 9 (A950) of 1080p LCD LED backlit HDTVs have totals two models: 46 inch LN46A950 and 55 inch LN55A950. The design unlike many of the models in Samsung’s lineup of myriad LCD HDTVs this year, the flagship A950 series doesn’t make a major design statement. The A950 offer a backlight based on cutting-edge LED (light-emitting diode) technology, inherent weaknesses of lower contrast ratios and less deep blacks. Other advantages of LED Backlighting, as covered in depth in our technology guide, include blur reduction for gamers and sports fans, a larger color gamut for more lifelike images, improved reliability and lower power consumption (up to 50%). Black levels on this display are superb, lending the image more pop and contrast than with any LCD, however, the A950 appeared slightly less impactful and high-contrast than a couple of the other displays.
