Sharp has announced the first four-primary-color 3D LCD television set for availability later this year. The new television will require you to wear special glasses, as do most 3D sets, and claims the new screen is about 80% brighter than conventional models, boasting the significantly brighter screen than its competitors.

It will also feature side-mount scanning LED backlight technology to boost picture quality and a response time of less than 4ms.

The newly developed 3D LCD combines four of Sharp’s unique, one-of-a-kind LCD technologies, including

  1. UV2A technology, Sharp’s core technology for LCD TV panels
  2. four-primary-color technology
  3. FRED technology
  4. side-mount scanning LED backlight technology
