“local dimming” technology to improve the black level and contrast ratios that are weak LCD technology, can achieve 1000000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. When part of the screen goes dark and the other is bright, LCD Backlighting standard (cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL)) must be based on the LCD panel to block the light and create dark areas. The result is less-than-stellar black-level performance that many LCDs have been observed.

720p vs 1080p HDTV Resolution

There are 2 different levels of resolution commonly used in modern HDTVs. The lower one is called “720p”, which means that there are 720 rows of pixels and has a progressive display. The higher resolution is called “1080p” which means 1080 rows of pixels, usually with 1920 pixels per row. Now the current highest HDTV resolution available in the market is 1080p resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

What is progressive display? In progressive display, 30 photographic images a second on TV.
